Location
The ideal location for your shed will be in a more sheltered environment where the exposure to high winds is minimised. Make sure there is sufficient access to your shed, and bear in mind the height of the surrounding trees and/or fences. We tend to find the larger the shed is, the more useful it will be. So if you are deciding between a smaller and larger location, we would advise you pick the larger. You will be amazed how quickly you can fill the space up!
What are you going to use the shed for?
As discussed above there are a wide variety of sheds available. If you are only intending to use the shed to store items then you can choose anything from a small lean to shed to a garaged sized option! However if you envisage spending time in the shed yourself, perhaps as a office or potting shed, then you should consider if you wish to incorporated any special features such as a window or electrical point.
Security
Sadly theft from garden sheds are becoming all too common. Whilst the majority of sheds will come with a lock, some manufacturers are now selling sheds with extra security methods such as higher windows or bolt padlock covers for your peace of mind.
Doors
Smaller sheds usually come with a single door, whilst transverse sheds can feature double doors.
Roof Styles
The most common options are Apex, Flat and Pent. Whilst these all offer the same levels of protection against water, it may be worth considering the height of these options and how they will look in your chosen location.
How keen on DIY are you?
As mentioned previously options can range from pre built and delivered by the manufacturer, partially built where it comes in a pre fabricated kit, or entirely constructed by you from scratch. Obviously the more you are willing to take on yourself the cheaper your shed is likely to be. However bear in mind that building a shed can be a time consuming and lengthy process, definitely not or the faint hearted.
