Wooden sheds can be used for a wide variety of different purposes. From small garden sheds, to large workshops up to 30 by 14 feet, they vary substantially in the complexity of their size and construction..
Small domestic sheds are usually a simple, single story structure built to contain garden equipment, tools or items unsuitable for storage inside, such as herbicides or petrol.
These sheds can come in the form of corner sheds, vertical sheds (taller than they are wide) or horizontal sheds (wider than they are tall.) Lean to sheds are also available as well as gambrel style roofed sheds that feature storage space in the roof. Sheds can also be classified by usage, for example hooks and shelves can be added in sheds destined for tool storage to maximise space.
Larger domestic sheds can be used in industry or farms and may feature aspects more commonly associated with homes, such as electrical outlets, windows or a shingled roof. These structures provide much more space, and are increasingly being utilized as garden offices for those with space pressures.
Cost also widely varies between models. Many suppliers now offer the option of basic, or economy sheds usually featuring ‘overlap’ methods to more luxury models featuring a ‘tongue and groove’ style. Some suppliers also offer an instillation service for convenience (usually at additional cost,) whilst others are designed to be self assembled. However it is important to note that the vast majority require that a suitably sized hard standing to already be in place.
